Anna Trzebinski, the designer who converted her family mansion in Lang’ata into an enviable hotel, is swinging back with three new luxury establishments in Lamu County.
An annual ranking by Conde Nast Traveler, a US travel magazine, released on Tuesday, November 29, hinted that works on Trzebinski’s three apartments at the Coast was almost complete.
Plans are already in high gear to launch the new establishment in 2023 as a luxury hideaway under the trade name, Jannah Shela.
The new outlet will have a rooftop bar – serving as a money shot with exclusive views of the expansive Lamu Town.
“On the heels of opening her home to guests as the art-filled Eden Nairobi in 2021, designer Anna Trzebinski has now set her sights on the coast. She has taken over three apartments in the beguiling island archipelago of Lamu, filled them with furniture and decor she designed, and will unveil them as Jannah Shela in 2023.
“With gorgeous indoor-outdoor spaces and a rooftop bar with the best views in Lamu, this is a chic hideaway for a new wave of travelers—both Kenyan and international,” Conde Nast Traveler described the upcoming establishment.
Trzebinski’s Lang’ata Hotel was one of the unique establishments that elevated the Kenyan Tourism scene into a destination worthy of a visit in 2023.
Kenya was ranked alongside other high-end destinations including Galilee in Israel (known for its charming boutique hotels and vineyards), Central California Coast in the USA (for new wine country stays, standout tasting rooms, and restaurants), and Eqypt (for a one-of-a-kind archaeological museum, waterfront resorts, cruises) among others.
In October 2021, Trzebisnki, a German-born fashion designer, unveiled the Eden Hotel in Nairobi after converting her own family home she built with her husband while they were both in their 20s.
The idea of transforming the home into a hotel dawned on Anna in 2020 at a time when she was dealing with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on her income.
She then placed a number of her possessions on auction in an attempt to raise money that would cushion both her and the team from the pandemic’s effects.
In May 2022, Conde Nast Traveler ranked the hotel among the best worldwide in its ‘Annual Hot Lists 2022’ after it stood out for its birdsong and lush grounds making visitors feel like it is a living museum.
