President William Ruto on Monday, February 13, paid Ksh1 million rent to settle the rent of a Nakuru-based hawker as part of the government’s affordable housing project.
Speaking at Nakuru State Lodge, the president lauded Shinde Shariff for her resolve to make monthly contributions to the Housing Fund project.
The head of state noted that he would boost her project by paying Ksh1 million to enable her to get one step closer to owning the house.
“I will pay Ksh1 million and you continue with the rest so that it will decrease and you can move into the house,” Ruto stated much to the applause of the crowd.
While addressing the audience, Sharif noted that the project enabled her to contribute small funds with the hopes of one day owning the house.
She added that her friends have joined her in the initiative and began making small contributions to the project.
” I did not have the capacity but I rushed to purchase one of the houses. At the moment, I have paid for 11 months. I’m still remaining a few months before I own the house. I have brought other people to the project so that they can also own a house.
” I hawk clothes here and there to earn a living so I want to implore you to also start,” she stated.
