Ruto Issues Way Forward on Dismissing Cabinet Secretaries

President William Ruto during a press briefing at State House on July 5, 2024.

President William Ruto on Friday dismissed calls by a section of the public to overhaul the whole cabinet and make fresh appointments.

The Head of State while speaking during a live session on X space, clarified that he would consider other means of addressing matters raised by the public against some of the cabinet secretaries.

According to Ruto, he had already lined up several interventions to address controversies that marred the reputation of his cabinet.

“I will not dissolve Cabinet because I am in the process of looking at things differently,” President Ruto clarified.

However, President Ruto warned cabinet secretaries against engaging in corrupt activities stating he was ready to fire any minister taken to court over graft allegations.

“Several staff of the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) are in court to answer for their involvement in the fertilizer scandal. The day any CS is taken to court, I will fire them,” Ruto stated.

While addressing Kenyans on the X space, Ruto also vowed to take action on alleged police abductions and maltreatment of suspects arrested in anti-government demos.

Ruto’s clarification comes against the backdrop of calls by the public for the dismissal of some of the Cabinet Secretaries on account of alleged non-performance.
