The Kenyatta family and the Queen of England enjoy a very close relationship. When President Uhuru was arraigned at the International Criminal Court, the Queen gave President Uhuru and the then TNA side, 3 lawyers to defend them.
Uhuru and Muthaura ended up being represented by Gillian Higgins, Steven Kay, and Karim Khan. The three were personal lawyers of Queen’s family and were members of Queen’s Counsel.
The Ruto defense team was led by a Kalenjin, Katwa Kigen. Muthaura’s team was led by Karim Khan. Uhuru’s team was led by Gillian and Kay.
Unknown to many, all the 4 lawyers were paid by Uhuru Kenyatta. From accommodation, legal fees to everything. Muthaura was acquitted. His lawyer, Kharim Khan, joined the Uhuru team.
When it was evident that Ruto would be jailed, Uhuru sent Kharim Khan to save him from the jaws of ICC. Khan had to lead his (Ruto) then struggling team. After 10 months, Ruto’s case was dismissed.
Ruto’ International Network and Influence doesn’t go past South Sudan, Uganda and Congo. If not for the Kenyatta family through Queen’s help, Ruto would be rotting in ICC’s Jail. Ruto should be grateful that he has a boss who saved his life and who also footed his bill at the Hague.
As I post this, the British Barrister Kharim Khan is the new ICC Chief Prosecutor. Congratulations Kham.
