NASA leader Raila Odinga on Monday met leaders of the Kikuyu Council of Elders at his Capitol Hill Office in Upper Hill, Nairobi.
During the meeting, Odinga assured the leaders on his full backing in the war on corruption.
The former Prime Minister said he supported President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tough stance in fighting corruption within government regardless of tribal or party affiliations.
“I assured them that the war on corruption has my full backing, in line with my agreement with the President to deny refuge to those accused of corruption and who try to hide behind parties and communities” Odinga tweeted.
Forgiveness
The assurance comes days after Odinga shared a platform with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto during the during the National Prayer Breakfast meeting at Safari Park hotel where the leaders forgave each other in the spirit of national healing and reconciliation.
Odinga apologised on behalf of all members of the National Super Alliance, and on his own behalf, asked President Kenyatta for forgiveness amid applause from all those present.
The meeting with the Kikuyu Council of Elders came barely hours after the former Prime Minister returned to the country from South Africa where he mediated talks between exiled South Sudan rebel leader Riek Machar and President Salva Kiir.
