President William Ruto’s allies formed the lion’s share of the 16 new names added to the list of shortlisted candidates for the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).
In a notice published in local dailies on Wednesday, February 22, the Public Service Commission (PSC) published a new list containing 240 names, a revision of the initial one which had 224 nominees.
“The Commission publishes the names of the shortlisted candidates. This list supersedes the one which was published in the print on February 21, 2023,” PSC Chair Anthony Muchiri wrote.
Former Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Benjamin Washiali, who shelved his political ambitions to dedicate his time to campaigning for Ruto in Western, made it to the revised list.
James Kimanthi Mbaluka, who contested for the Kibwezi West seat on a UDA ticket but lost to Mwengi Mutuse of Maendeleo Chapchap, was also shortlisted.
Party primary losers David Kiplagat Korir (Baringo Central Constituency) and Allan Kosgey (Nandi Governor) were part of the additions.
Ex-county assembly members shortlisted include former Baringo County Speaker David Kiplagat and former Migori Minority Leader Nicholas Ngabiya Rioba.
Other new shortlisted candidates included Charles Kibanani Ngome, Mary Nyangara Karema and Justa Mwangi, who are persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The new candidates will join the rest for scheduled interviews at the PSC offices beginning March 1, 2023.
Meanwhile, members of the public were invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits to the Commission by February 28.
