Veteran journalist Mark Masai on Sunday, December 11, unveiled a new show a week after NTV sacked him.
Masai is set to host The Social Newsroom, a show he explained would touch on stories that matter to the people of Kenya and be told in a different way.
The podcast will premiere on Thursday, December 15 at 6pm on all his social media streaming platforms.
“It has always been about the who, what, where, when, why and how. But in the times we are living in, there is a big so what?”
“To the new way of doing things, finding meaning in what we experience and finding stories that matter to us. Welcome to the future!” Masai declared.
The show will be produced by SemaBox Africa, a podcasting incubator providing a plug-and-play facility to podcasters and has produced hours of podcasts.
It is, however, still not clear whether he would host guests on the show and an attempt by Kenyans.co.ke to seek clarification was met with silence.
SemaBox has worked with high-profile clients including Google Arts, Amnesty International Kenya, and the European Union- East African Community Market Access and Upgrade Programme ( EU-EAC MARKUP).
His friends and fans including renowned banker Mohamed Wehliye flooded the comment section to congratulate and wish him well during his new endeavour.
“The future belongs to those who embrace change and challenge and offer a new way of doing things. You have what it takes to create a new chapter,” one user wrote.
“Nice one! Some things happen for a reason and here we are now, where your full potential will be portrayed. Give it ur best and you’ll not regret it,” another commented.
Masai bid farewell to his colleagues at NTV on December 1, marking the end of a 14-year stint at the station. However, he hinted that he would not be out of the media space for long.
“This is the reality of the media landscape around the world and unfortunately, I was at the losing end of this one. I will be back on other platforms: watch this space,” the journalist stated.
