  • Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a man accused of killing his girlfriend in her house in Lang’ata sub-county on November 14 in cold blood.

The arrest was made on Friday, November 18, after a 48-hour search by the sleuths attached to the Crime Research Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and DCI detectives from Lang’ata.

He was arrested along the Kenya-Uganda border in Malaba, where he had been hiding since the murder was reported by the victim’s parents.

According to the detectives, the suspect was aware of the manhunt launched to apprehend him. He was thus found in a drunk stupor shifting from one den to another.

DCI further noted the man was believed to have masterminded the gruesome murder of his lover, whose lifeless body was found on the sofa, with a deep cut on the forehead and blood oozing from her nose.

Additionally, the crime scene had blood splattered on the wall and the living room floor, indicating signs of a struggle.

“At the time of the suspect’s arrest, some personal effects belonging to the deceased were recovered from him,” DCI stated.

Following the arrest, the man was detained at Malaba Police Station before he was transferred to Lang’ata Police Station.

Detectives detailed that he would be charged with murder before being arraigned in court.

Additionally, experts from the DCI National Forensic laboratory collected blood samples from the crime scene as investigations progressed.

While narrating the ordeal, the victim’s mother noted that she discouraged the relationship since the suspect was abusive.

“She once came home with a bloodshot eye but when I asked her what happened, she hid the cause of the injury and blamed it on shampoo,” she stated amidst tears.
