Man Narrates How Pastor Swindled Him Ksh4.6 Million Earned From Loan

A section of Eldoret residents could not celebrate the elevation of their town to city status as suspicious individuals continue to swindle them off their hard earned money.

An Eldoret man on Monday came forward to narrate how he was swindled out of Ksh4.6 million by a religious leader he once trusted.

The pastor, who led a local church and a financial company in Eldoret, promised his followers miraculous returns on their investments.

The man, who took a substantial loan to invest in the pastor’s company, shared his ordeal with a mixture of regret and disbelief.

“I took a loan and placed it in the company,” he recounted, his voice heavy with the weight of lost hope.

“So far, the total money that I have topped up is at Ksh4.6 million. I have lost it. When he says that the money is safe and that there is money, why isn’t he paying us?” the Eldoret man posed.

The company, led by the pastor, had promised investors a lucrative deal—30 per cent of their investment would be paid out monthly for a year.

This was an offer too good to resist for many, especially those who trusted the pastor as a spiritual guide.

But instead of reaping the promised rewards, the investors found themselves entangled in a financial nightmare.

The Eldoret man’s story is not an isolated case. Another victim, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed the devastating impact on her family.

“As a family, we have lost over three million,” she began the narration, her voice trembling with emotion.

The ripple effects of the scam have been far-reaching, tearing apart families and leaving victims grappling with the consequences.

One woman, who had been actively recruiting others into the scheme, shared a harrowing account of how her efforts to help others turned into a source of deep sorrow.

“I went around getting women into a group, and jointly we collected Ksh1.8 million,” she stated.

“Some of those women are sick. Another woman sold her land, and she is paralysed as we speak. Another one died because of this. It is very painful, I can’t sleep. I don’t know how to pay these debts. I took my Mum’s money, I took the title deeds of my Mum, my sister, and that of my brother-in-law.”

In response to the growing outcry, the pastor issued a statement that did little to alleviate the concerns of his victims.

“Most of our clients have been paid,” he claimed. “If there are those who have not been paid, we have issues that we are working on, and we shall resume the payment,” the preacher said on a phone call with Citizen TV.
