  • It is not every day you encounter a rental apartment with a toilet accessed through the balcony.

That was the case on Tuesday, November 7 when a netizen questioned the idea.

In the viral photo, a toilet is seen accessible through the balcony, while a tap is also mounted by the balcony.

The user by the name of Mwende asked, “Not the balcony being accessed through the toilet, you people are doing bad things out here,”

Her statement was followed by a heated debate with the majority questioning the idea behind the design of the apartment.

“And someone approved these building plans?” a user by the name of Gnostic God wondered.

Davincie Njoroge wondered if there was a problem with ventilation.

“Could it be ventilation problems, guests in the sitting room should be allowed to relax peacefully,”

Just Wacuka thought otherwise, “And the tap on the “balcony” is for what?

After you have finished your visit in the toilet you can then step out and wash your clothes as you enjoy the view?” she wondered.

The apartment Kenyans.co.ke established, was a one-bedroom unit that was charging Ksh 18,000 located in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The design of the apartment raised concerns over how best an apartment should be healthwise to tenants.

Normally in Kenya, lavatory spaces are relegated far from areas that could have traffic of people mostly built in ensuite bedrooms, not easily accessible by guests.

Conducive living spaces should improve the well-being of those who live in them.

Having well-planned architectural designs that fit and provide an environment of tranquility for those who live in should be of priority.

Equally, consulting home buyers on how they prefer their houses to be designed is imperative to prevent disapproval.
