Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Monday, February 6, deployed 9,000 officers with immediate effect to various parts of the country.
According to the CS, the officers include 6,000 police officers and 3,000 prison officers.
The CS revealed that these officers will be deployed in security hot spots to combat rising crime cases.
He was addressing the press at Harambee House, while giving provide an update of his scorecard, 100 days since he took over as interior boss.
“We have 6000 police officers who have joined the National Police Service in the last 100 days as well as 3000 Kenya Prison Service officers.
“These officers guarantee us sustainability towards the fight against crime,” the CS remarked during the deployment.
Kindiki further revealed that the deployment will be based on a security need basis.
“The new officers will be deployed to security hotspots across the country immediately to further buttress the security of our people and their property,” he revealed.
