Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to resist all forces that would compel him to cling to power after the culmination of his tenure in 2022.
In his approach over the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) muthama is now claiming that it is being pushed by parties interested in dishing political power to individuals against the will of the people.
“If Uhuru wants to become a respected statesman, he must not attempt to succeed himself. He should do what his predecessors did. That way he will retire honorably,” Muthama said.
Muthama who was speaking after attending a burial ceremony at Kyaume village in Matungulu, machakos county urged President Uhuru to follow his predecessors who calmly exited after the end of their leadership
Muthama’s sentiments come barely a week after Kandara MP Alice Wahome sensationally claimed President Kenyatta was scheming to extend his power beyond 2022.Wahome, said ODM leader Raila Odinga is Uhuru’s new ‘political mercenary for hire’ and the BBI report is the special-purpose vehicle leading to the route of ‘self succession.’
