For years, owning a house in a high-end estate was perceived as the epitome of opulence for many Kenyans.
As such, a townhouse in Kitisuru, Nairobi County, with a Ksh400,000 monthly rent – is not something many can fathom.
It sits on an eighth acre with a well-manicured lawn and two detached servant quarters.
The prestigious, spacious, modern house also has four bedrooms with en-suite facilities.
Features
The townhouse consists of large arched windows through which illuminate the sweet-toffee browns of the wooden floor. Through windows that welcomed the passage of light, the dining room is alive with the vibrant hues of midday.
The floor is a highly polished parquet floor in geometric patterns with an artistic finish. The walls resembled a bold white baseboard.
Its interior is properly designed with high-end furniture, a modern fitted kitchen with a breakfast island, a sunken, a big living room and a sizable bathroom.
A walk around the living room depicts a family room with a fireplace and barbeque area.
The house also consists of a power backup generator, a private gate and a carport.
“An Elegantly Charming Treasure in the heart of old Kitisuru. Is this amazing townhouse sitting on well-manicured gardens and a private gate.
“Yet is still very secure in a court of 5 similar units,” reads part of the statement from a real estate agent.
Land Prices Drop
In the latest report by Hass Index, land prices in affluent neighbourhoods dropped due to the significant move from suburban areas to satellite areas such as Juja and Syokimau.
In posh areas such as Kileleshwa, the prices were pegged at Ksh300 million, Lavington Ksh231 million, Donholm Ksh72 million, Karen Ksh65 million, Kilimani Ksh403 million and in Kitisuru the prices were Ksh95 million.
Drop in prices was also attributed to infrastructure development, such as the construction of the Nairobi Expressway.
“The move was expected because of the infrastructural development. Take the Expressway, for example, in about 15 minutes one can get to Kitengela. This means they can come to Nairobi for work and live outside Nairobi,” Catherine Khasoa, Corporate Affairs Manager of Optiven Limited, told Kenyans.co.ke in a past interview.
