Inside Ababu Namwamba's YouTube-Like Website for Content Creators

  • Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba announced the government’s ambitious plan to mirror the sensational YouTube platform to benefit Kenyan content creators.

    Namwamba declared the digital platform named, Talanta Hela Portal, will help creators share their content online.

    The CS was speaking during an interview with Sauti TV, on Monday, November 28 after he announced that FIFA lifted the ban on Kenya.

    “We want to boost the digital space. We are launching the Talanta Hela Portal, which is going to be a platform where you can bring your creativity,” the CS declared.

    “I convened the stakeholders in this sector for us to start a journey that can turn the creative into a mega industry that can contribute to our Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” Namwamba stated.

    He added that through the Kenya Academy of Sports and Art, artists in Kenya will benefit from their craft and receive the necessary training to push their content to the world.

    Namwamba added that after assessment of the content uploaded on the portal, the government will help boost the salary of the artists.

    The CS noted that the ministry will urge the government to buy Kenyan content as well as liaise with other organisations to guarantee artists get their worth.

    “We want to do local film big time. We want to increase local content in our media so that Kenyans can consume local content,” the CS noted.

    Furthermore, the CS warned cartels who con artists noting, “It so painful and shameful that musicians work so hard to put their content out there but there are crooks who live big on their money.”

    Conclusively, he spoke about the National Youth Service (NYS) officer who cleaned his muddy shoes and sparked debate among Kenyans.

    “The young man is my good friend we have absorbed him into my office. The next time you visit me he will be welcoming you as part of the security personnel,” he remarked.
