How to prepare delicious bowl of oatmeal for breakfast

-

A bowl of oatmeal is a simple and nutritious way to start your day.

Oatmeal is not only delicious but also packed with fibre, however, it may be bland so you need to add a few ingredients to enhance sweetness.

The addition of a few ingredients such as sugar, honey and fruit toppings are what make the meal delicious.

It is a healthy breakfast choice as it provides vitamins and minerals.

Oatmeal is also a heavy meal that will keep you full and satisfied until your next meal.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to making a delicious bowl of oatmeal

Ingredients:

1 cup of oatmeals

2 cups of  water or milk

Sugar

Maple syrup

Cinnamon

2 Bananas

Chia seeds(optional)

Flax seeds(optional)

Step 1

Take your packet of oats, water or milk and optional toppings like fruits, nuts, seeds, honey, or maple syrup.

Step 2

Measure out 1 cup of instant oats per serving. Instant oats are the most common type used for oatmeal as you can easily purchase them at any local food store.

Step 3

Oatmeal can be cooked on the stovetop, in the microwave, or even overnight in the fridge for a cold version. However, we shall use the stovetop method for cooking.

Bring 2 cups of water or milk to a boil in a saucepan. Once the water has boiled, add your measured oats and reduce the heat to medium-low.

Stir occasionally and cook for 5-10 minutes, depending on the desired consistency. If using milk, be careful not to let it boil over.

Step 4 (optional)

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine ½ cup of instant oats with 1 cup of water or milk.

Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway through. Adjust the cooking time based on your microwave’s power and your desired oatmeal consistency.

Step 5

Oatmeal can be customised with various sweeteners. Add a pinch of sugar to enhance the flavour, and sweeten with honey, and maple syrup to taste.

You can also add spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavour.

Step 6

Once your oatmeal is cooked to your liking, it’s time to add toppings. Fresh or dried fruits like berries, bananas, apples, or raisins add natural sweetness and texture.

Nuts and seeds such as chia seeds, or flax seeds provide crunch and additional nutrients. Add a little more honey or maple syrup if desired.

Step 7

Transfer your oatmeal to a bowl and top with your favourite toppings. Enjoy it hot.
