Govt Announces 2,300 Permanent & Pensionable Jobs: How to Apply

  • The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) announced opportunities for job seekers in the country. In a notice dated Tuesday, February 7, the government entity announced 2,300 permanent and pensionable job opportunities.

    KFS also clarified that the application process was free of charge and canvassing (sending in your application for every open role) shall lead to automatic disqualification.

    “KFS invites qualified, performance-driven, and highly motivated individuals to fill the positions of Forest Rangers (2,000), Forest Assistant (40), and Forester (260). This will enable the Service to fulfill its mandate effectively and drive the country towards attaining the target of 30 per cent tree cover by 2032 from the current 12.13 per cent,” read the notice in parts.

    The notice also listed the recruitment centres for all 47 counties with those in Nairobi expected to head to the Nyayo National Stadium for the exercise.

    How to Apply
    Forest Rangers

    According to the notice, all those seeking to be forest rangers should avail themselves at the recruitment centres on March 8, at 8 am.

    In the cities of Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru, and Kisumu, applicants are expected to visit the Tononoka Grounds, Nyayo National Stadium, ASk Grounds, and Mamboleo Show Grounds respectively.

    Some of the requirements include a National Identification Card, a minimum of D+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, being aged between 18 and 28, be of a minimum of 5.6 ft for men and 5.3 ft for women in height, being physically and medically fit and have a clearance certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

    Additionally, KFS advised that any female candidate should not be pregnant before recruitment and during the training.

    All successful candidates will be required to undergo a medical check-up at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy, undergo rigorous nine months of Forest Law Enforcement (Para-military) training as well as meet all the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

    Forest Assistant and Forester

    All those interested in these positions must be Kenyan citizens, have proficiency in computer applications, and have a valid clearance certificate from the DCI.

    Furthermore, those applying for the Forest Assistant jobs need a minimum of D+ (plus) in KCSE and a Certificate in Forestry from a recognised institution.

    Meanwhile, those looking forward to being recruited as foresters need to have a Diploma in Forestry from a recognised institution.

    Unlike the forest rangers, successful candidates for these positions will not undergo medical check-ups.

    Interested candidates who meet the set requirements were urged to visit the KFS website http(colon, double forward slash)www(dot)kenyaforestservice(dot)org and click on the Jobs tab to begin the application.

    Once on the platform, candidates should fill in the relevant boxes and await a notification email after successful online registration.

    Additionally, all applicants must print and attach the notification email as the first page of the hard copy application.

    On the hard copy application, applicants should indicate the reference number for the position applied for and attach the current curriculum vitae, copies of relevant testimonials, academic and professional certificates, and a copy of their national identity card.

    For those seeking to fill the other positions, the deadline was set on Tuesday, March 7, before 5 pm.

    “The application will not be considered complete unless the two steps are successfully undertaken. Further, submission of the application through email only shall not be considered,” KFS warned.
