  • Godfrey Kimutai Tanui made headlines after he proposed to Bomet Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir Toto on Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14.

In the recorded proposal, Kimutai, also known as Nifty Kim, went on his knees and asked Toto for her hand in marriage. Overcome by emotions, the first time MP accepted the engagement ring symbolising the start of their union.

The engagement ceremony was held at a private undisclosed location filled with petals of red roses perfectly spread on the ground forming a love heart shape.

“God has given me grace to partner with her as my fiancée. This is just the beginning. There’s a wedding ahead. I want to promise her that I’ll make her the happiest, in order to serve the people of Bomet…I’ll assist her with political advice, with my views and generally help her achieve her goals, ” Kimutai vowed after Toto accepted his marriage proposal.

    Kimutai’s Profile

Kimutai is reportedly an assistant to a second-term Member of the County Assembly (MCA) in Bomet County.

Before landing that role, he was tasked with gathering and updating news content and events for Bomet County Politics forum.

Kimutai also had a short stint at Kimbilio Daima Sacco, a savings and credit cooperative society, formerly known as Chepsol Sacco Limited.

At the Sacco, he empowered youth to invest and gain financial freedom.

Besides serving in different positions, Kimutai identifies himself as an entrepreneur, having volunteered in different positions.

Reports indicate that Kimutai pursued Banking and Finance. His social media pages also indicate that he attended Western University based in Canada. Bishop Isaac Hellmuth founded the institution on March 7, 1878.

However, it remains unclear how Toto and Kimutai met before their love blossomed, leading to a marriage proposal.

Toto promised to remain faithful throughout their relationship. She also contemplated documenting what had transpired in a book.

“This has never happened in my life…I was telling my fiancé that I should write a book. I want to congratulate my sweetheart,” Toto stated after the proposal.

“They used to tell him you are not supposed to marry politicians. It is said that they are not faithful and will mistreat you because they have money. But I want to assure you…. that I am a completely different person, ” she further assured Kimutai.
