  • Doctor Judy Githinji, is the wife to Michael Magoha, the late Education Cabinet George Magoha’s only son.

Before Magoha’s demise on January Tuesday 24, little was known about Michael and his private life with Githinji.

But the late Education Cabinet Secretary had a cordial relationship with his daughter-in-law, as seen from her tribute.

Githinji received warm support from Magoha, which helped her establish a career in the medical sector.

Besides supporting Githinji’s career, the former Education Cabinet Secretary taught his daughter-in-law about family values.

“You treated me just like your own daughter and I was consistently basking in the warmth of your kindness and love,” she stated.

“Thank you for reminding me every day by your actions the importance of family and putting God first,” Githinji further wrote.

The warm reception was made public by Githinji in a 48-page eulogy shared during the burial ceremony on Saturday, February 11.

Githinji described Magoha as a selfless, pure of heart, kind and loving father-in-law.

“From the very beginning, you touched my heart with the love, support, and acceptance I felt from you,” she stated.

Reports indicate that Githinji had a stint at the Aga Khan University College Hospital in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.

Further reports indicate that Githinji met Michael during her tour of duty. Michael is a neurosurgeon and lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

Magoha’s only son also previously worked at the Groote Schuur Hospital, the University of Cape Town in South Africa, and the Aga Khan University Teaching Hospital in Nairobi.

Michael, who graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2019, on the other hand, stated that his father believed in equality and urged the mourners to imitate his deeds.

“I have known my father through many faces, but I know what people know is the CS. What excited him ( Magoha) was not the position but the ability to work,” Michael stated.
