Maandamano protests have taken a new twist after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga announced that they will go on on Monday & Thursday everyday. He claimed his sentiments were expedited by ‘public demand’ from netizens.

The maandamanos are meant to help curb the high cost of living in the country. And a section of netizens are quite convinced that it will help.

The opposition leader also announced that anti-government protests would now take place twice a week – Mondays and Thursdays, from next week. Mr Odinga said this was in response to public demand.

Not so many celebrities have come out to share their sentiments on the protests. But a couple have had the courage to share.

    Eric Omondi

The jester has not only commented on the protests, but he was also partly involved after he went to Parliament to hold a peaceful demonstration aimed at lowering the high cost of living.

    Huddah Monroe

Huddah Monroe never minds speaking her mind. But unlike Eric Omondi, Huddah believes the high cost of living is part of ‘the new world order’.

    Andrew Kibe

Andrew Kibe is always on the look-out for any ills that are done in Kenya. The fella is diverse in his content, ranging from political agenda to celebrity agendas. The YouTuber is rooting for the demos but he claims a couple of people like pastors and LGBTQ members did not show up to hype the demos.

On Monday this week, opposition supporters engaged the police in running battles in protests in Nairobi and Kisumu that saw at least two people shot, one fatally and hundreds of others arrested.

Nairobi’s City Centre remained deserted, with premises such as banks and supermarket chains staying shut as anti-riot police pushed back the protesters attempting to access the CBD.
