The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating allegations of embezzlement of public funds by some NGCDF officials in a constituency in Nakuru County regarding the procurement of three school buses.
It is alleged that the Constituency inflated the prices of the buses and bought each at Sh9.2 million instead of Sh7 million market price.
When reached for comment, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed that the Commission is probing the matter but refused to divulge further details.
“Yes, the Commission is seized of this matter, which is under active investigation, but we cannot discuss details at this stage,” Ngumbi said.
According to a letter by the Commission to the CDF Manager, seen by the Star, 35 suspects have been summoned to appear before EACC Offices in Nakuru for questioning.
The 35 have been summoned to appear on different dates between July 25, and August 2, 2024.
“To assist the Commission with the investigations, you are requested to inform the officers listed below to appear at the EACC South Rift Regional Office located at Assumption Centre 5th Floor, Moi Road,” part of the letter reads.
The letter is authored by the EACC South Rift Regional Manager Ignatius Wekesa.
