Three young entrepreneurs in Diani were left in limbo after an unidentified man casually walked into their newly established studio and stole their equipment.
While speaking to the media on Tuesday, February 7, the group disclosed that the man used a master key to access the studio and walked out with equipment amounting to approximately Ksh500,000.
From the building’s CCTV footage, the man is seen going up the stairs while talking on his phone before reappearing with a loaded bag.
Additionally, the suspect was reported to have visited the shop the previous day posing as a client. The trio believed he was scouting the area before the incident.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Ramadhan Sigomba one of the entrepreneurs, explained that he was in charge of piecing the footage and presenting it to the police officers.
“I have skills in investigative journalism which I used to pinpoint the suspect in the heist. But despite presenting the footage to the police, nothing has been done,” he lamented.
According to Sigomba, the man went to the shop and booked February 10 for a wedding. He also asked whether the studio was open on Sundays.
Sigomba informed him that they usually close at 12.30 pm when business was slow and coincidentally, the thug struck at that exact time.
The man arrived at the building on January 29, at 12.29 pm, and left at 12.34 pm with the stolen goods.
“We had a client’s wedding on some of the machines, how will we recreate those moments? We are working to get some of the essential equipment for the continuity of the business,” Sigomba told Kenyans.co.ke.
“Only three weeks into the business and this happens and this happens. It is very disappointing,” the second entrepreneur, Dennis Kiptoo, stated.
Some of the items include two cameras, two laptops, two hard drives, and camera lenses.
“At this point we have nothing, we had put our savings into this business. The bills are piling up and we do not know how to pay them, “Rani Khan, the third entrepreneur concluded.
The matter was reported at the Diani Police Station and police promised to respond
