  • Ayub Ahmed, a 4-year-old boy, rescued from Tsavo East National Park on Monday, December 5, received life-changing deals following his viral survival story.

The minor, who survived in the Tsavo wilderness for six days feasting on Amarula seeds-like pods and drinking rainwater, received a generous offer to support his education.

According to Roan Carr-Hartley, a Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) pilot, a Kenyan-born well-wisher offered to support Ayub and his siblings.

The deal includes catering for his education from primary to secondary school and college.

“I am helping arrange and facilitate this for the boy and his family, I will be meeting with them soon and making a plan to move forward,” Hartley told Nation Africa on Friday, December 9.

According to the pilot, his survival story also changed the story of his local village in Tana River County, with tourists and other donors setting their target there.

Local institutions and medical facilities are also set to bustle following Ayub’s survival story.

Even as Ayub continues recuperating, his father revealed that the 4-year-old was out of danger.

He added that the boy can go to the well to watch the livestock drinking, but the mother has to tag along to prevent another catastrophe.

“It was an emotional moment for me from the sky; a very emotional reunion. I could see how happy these people were and I could only imagine how the village that was in a sombre mood when we left would rejoice to learn of this rescue,” Ayub’s father recalled the ordeal.

The 4-year-old was rescued deep inside the thick forest unhurt by the pilot who was contacted by the locals who had searched for him for days.

However, his footprints enabled Hartley to organise a rescue mission which was successful after six days of searching.

“He was crouching down and shying away, he started to walk one way and then back the other way. He was very weak and stumbling as he walked,” Hartley stated.

“The boy was covered in mosquito bites and scratches from the bristling thorn bushes. His feet were blistered and riddled with thorns and cuts,” he added.
