The police were from Kainuk and Lokichar police stations continuing with their normal patrols along the Kitale-Lodwar highway.
Reports indicate that approximately 200 bandits laid the ambush on the officers prompting them to fire back.
“As the security officers were concentrating on neutralising the attackers, they were attacked from behind by another group of about 100 armed bandits surrounding the officers from all directions,” read part of the police reports.
Turkana County Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed the incident noting that the region experienced two attacks on Friday, February 10.
