  • A man was on Thursday, November 17, convicted at the Milimani Law courts for causing grievous harm to a 20-year-old woman after he pushed her from the 12th floor of a building in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

The incident that took place on September 13, 2020, is said to have happened after the woman rejected the man’s advances going out on a date.

According to reports, the accused turned violent after the lady refused to prolong the date and spend the night with him.

While issuing the ruling, Milimani Senior Principal magistrate Esther Kimilu determined that there was no justification for the suspect’s actions.

Further, the judge added the man showed little to no remorse after the atrocious act.

“The suspect kept hitting his victim on the face and forcing her to put on shoes that the accused would repeatedly remove,” shared with the court.

The court posited that even when the victim decided to leave the engagement which was taking a negative turn, the accused continued to assault her before pushing her from the 12th floor.

However, she miraculously landed on the balcony of the 9th floor.

Following the impact of the fall, medical records presented in court indicated that the lady spent about two months at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) receiving specialized treatment for her pelvic injuries.

On his part, the convict’s defence team pleaded for leniency from the court, citing the offender was young and had just ventured into an Information Communication Technology (ICT) career before committing the crime.

The court called for a victim impact report and a probation report ahead of his sentencing date on December 1, 2022.

In 2020, the story of the duo hit headlines and contributed to the dismissal of three former Radio Africa Group’s Homeboyz Radio show hosts, Shaffie Weru, Joseph Munoru (DJ Joe Mfalme) and Neville Musya.

The trio was allegedly sacked for demeaning the 20-year-old during a show.
