  • Machakos Town Member of Parliament Dr Victor Munyaka claimed that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was being forced into an alliance with his ODM counterpart Raila Odinga.

The MP pointed fingers at President Uhuru Kenyatta who he accused of trying to hoodwink Kalonzo into working with Raila ahead of the 2022 General Election.

Munyaka declared that he and other leaders from the Kamba community will not support the Wiper leader’s move when he decides to join forces with Mr Odinga.

The lawmaker asked Kalonzo to join the Tanga Tanga brigade and support Ruto in 2022. But Mr Kalonzo had earlier stated that he will be the man to beat come next year’s polls.

Speaking in Kitui County Kalonzo stated that he is ready to face Ruto on the ballot terming it as his number one priority. The Wiper leader stated he will be starting his countrywide tour to popularise his candidature.

“Defeating William Ruto is my number one priority and I have reasons for it. I allow my brother Muthama to take his political cause we congratulate you because you are chairman of a political party,” Kalonzo stated.

Raila and Musyoka met on Friday, July 24, with the former promising the latter a share of the Ksh4.1 billion awarded to the National Super Alliance (NASA) by the  Registrar of Political Parties.

The ODM leader appears to be a shackle that will prevent OKA members from ascending to power in 2022 after convincing Musyoka to remain in his circles and delay his decision to join the OKA alliance.

“If Musyoka breaks away from OKA, the alliance will remain feeble with the likes of Mudavadi and Wetangula coming from the same community. Gideon is wavering and cannot be trusted as he is still unsure of his future.

“The junior Moi is also struggling to cement his name in the political arena and the three would not have much influence,” University of Nairobi lecturer and political analyst, Dr Jane Thuo told kenyagist.com

“Raila, unlike Ruto who prefers to ride solo but with underdogs, built his fortress for decades and does not want to relinquish it,” she stated, adding that it was still early to rule him out of the race in favour of Ruto who has been making inroads in several parts of the country, notably Mt Kenya.

Kalonzo was reportedly wary of joining OKA for fear of losing parliamentary positions awarded to his party while still under NASA.
