  • President Uhuru Kenyatta’s aide, Patrick Ngatia, on Monday, January 31, announced his resignation from the Presidential Delivery Unit.

Taking to his social media, Ngatia noted that his four-year tenure had come to a close on the final day of January- thanking his colleagues for the great camaraderie over the years.

Unveiling his next chapter, Ngatia noted that he would seek to vie against Jubilee politician, Ngunjiri Wambugu, for the Nyeri Parliamentary seat.

“Today marks my last day in my latest tour of duty at the President’s Delivery Unit. I am happy to have served with great colleagues. Now I move on to the next chapter.

“I ask for your prayers, best wishes, and support as I vie for the position of Member of Parliament, Nyeri Town Constituency, in the August 9, 2022 elections. Thank you,” he stated.

Ngatia was recruited as part of the PDU in October 2018. The team was tasked with tracking the progress of the Big Four Agenda initiated by the ruling government.

“It’s a delivery team whose main purpose is to track and report on the progress of the Administration’s key projects as well as coordinate dissemination of public information on the status of the key projects,” Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Nzioka Waita, stated during the induction meeting.

Previously, while working as a NEMA director, he pointed out the dire state of the garbage site within the town- faulting the county government for failing to do their job. This led to various politicians calling him out, stating that he politicized the matter.

The University of Nairobi alumnus will now vie against Wambugu, who seeks re-election as the town’s legislator.

Wambugu, who vied on a Jubilee ticket in 2017, has previously maintained his stance in backing the Azimio la Umoja movement initiated by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

The two will seek to clinch the votes within the Mountain, heavily touted as Uhuru’s bedroom, in the next General Election.
