Deputy President William Ruto at the 60th graduation ceremony of UoN Twitter
President Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed what he doubted most about Deputy President William Ruto’s journey to attaining his PhD.
He was speaking at the 60th graduation ceremony of the University of Nairobi where the DP was also a graduand.
In his speech, Uhuru spoke about times when Ruto would ask for time to do research and the president thought that it was just a way to skip work.
“Hongera william, pongezi. Sasa naona pahali unatoroka saa ingine(Congratulations William, now I see where you used to hide sometimes). I used to think he was cheating when he tells me he’s going to do research,” joked Uhuru.
“I thought he was trying to run away from work. At least now he can justify that he was actually doing research,” he added.
The president also extended his congratulatory message to the thousands of students who had made their way to the ceremony.
He expressed his pride in the quality of education that the institution was producing.
Ruto had a triple celebration as his wedding anniversary and birthday are marked on December 21.
Other prominent people who joined the DP in the graduation were Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and his wife Lucy Musundi, DCJ Philomena Mwilu and Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.
Harambee stars player Allan Wanga who also doubles up as the Kakamega County Director of Sports, also graduated from the institution.
