The party called on applications for any aspiring candidate for the three upcoming MCA by-elections.
Aspirants for the MCA seat have been asked to pay Ksh30,000 while those applying to represent youth, women and people with disabilities have to pay Ksh20,000.
UDA party secretary-general Veronica Maina stated the deadline for application is August 4, 2021.
â€œWe invite interested and qualified aspirants to submit their application for the by-elections in Eldas Ward in Wajir County, Kiagu Ward in Meru County and Nguu/Masumba Ward in Makueni County. The by-elections will be held on October 14, 2021,â€ stated Maina.
â€œ All applications must be made online,â€ she directed.
This comes weeks after the UDA party won the recent Kiambaa by-elections which saw Njuguna Wanjiku garner 21,773 votes defeating Jubilee’s Kariri Njama who got 21,263 votes.
Njuguna who made his debut in politics through the Kiambaa by-election was overcome by emotions when the final results were confirmed by the IEBC Returning Officer.
â€œI want to thank God this has been tough but we have overcome. I thank my party and the Deputy President for their support. I want to tell people that the hustler nation is real and I became their candidate even without being known, hustler nation is real,â€ he said.
Central Kenya, which has produced three of the countryâ€™s four presidents including the current president, is widely seen as a key battleground zone in the next elections in which President Uhuru Kenyatta will be ineligible to run after serving his two constitutional terms.
