Sakaja was the chief guest at a forum held at Lenana High School which brought together over 10,000 prefects from various schools in Kenya.
As he walked into the venue, Sakaja was taken aback as the students erupted into a chorus of ‘Happy Birthday’.
A visibly surprised Sakaja cupped his mouth as he first heard the students, smiling from ear to ear as they sang for him.
He later took to social media to appreciate the students for the gesture.
“Had a great time speaking to and interacting with more than 10,000 secondary school prefects from across the county at the annual Raise Your Game forum today at Lenana. There is hope in this generation.
“Thanks so much for the birthday surprise as well,” Sakaja wrote on Twitter.
Sakaja was born on February 2, 1985, and was celebrating his 35th birthday.
The Senator has in recent weeks been active in the Senate as a vocal supporter of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) fronted by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
He also played a key role in the impeachment of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu as he rallied his counterparts to vote to remove the governor from office over alleged corruption and abuse of office.
According to a report by Nation, Sakaja was among the three Senators tasked with whipping Jubilee senators to vote against Waititu. The others were Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata and his Laikipia counterpart Charles Kibiru.
“The governors’ lawyers misled him. This case has been proved beyond reasonable doubt,” Sakaja insisted.
