  • Brian Sagamo joined Nanyuki High School after his father sent him to the institution empty-handed on the first day.

    Speaking to the media on Thursday, May 12, the school principal Oliver Munishi stated that the administration would help the student get some basic needs to enable him settle down and concentrate on his studies.

    He stated that he would also make a personal contribution towards the student’s school fees.

    Interestingly, Sagamo revealed that he was not called to Nanyuki, the most selected school by 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates.

    The Form One student, who scored 387 marks stated that his father, a Boda Boda rider in Ikolomani, Kakamega county decided to take him to the prestigious school.

    “I come from Ikolomani, Kakamega County, and went to Shiseno Primary. I was called to Oloolaiser High School in Kajiado and my father thought that this school was nearer,” he stated.

    Additionally, an official of the school called on well-wishers to join hands with them even as they support Sagamo with his schooling.

    “If there is anybody out there who wants to help you are welcome because this is our school. We never know who these students will become in the near future,” he stated.

    During the release of 2021 KSCE results on April 11, Education Cabinet Secretary, George Magoha, revealed that 156,003 candidates applied to join the school that only had 400 slots.

    Over the past few weeks, school heads have been forced to intervene as some parents and students struggle with raising school fees and basic school items.

    On May 5, Kanga High school Principal, Rueben Kodiango admitted Geoffrey Omollo to the institution after his story went viral on social media having reported to the Migori County school with an empty box.
