Sossion addressing the press at a past media briefing File
Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion is once again on the news cycle, this time for a not so good reason.Â
Sossion was the subject of ridicule for the better part of Friday for inventing a new Bible verse that doesn’t really exist.
The Nominated MP made the blunder during his speech to the press which was directed to Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.
Sossion stated, ” Bibilia inasema (the Bible says) you can take a cow to the river but you cannot force it to drink water.”Â
There is actually no verse in the Bible with these words.Â
The phrase Sossion meant to use was old English idiom of “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink”.
The idiom means you cannot force a person to perform an undertaking they do not want to.Â
Sossion was addressing a press conference on the fallout over the new Competency-Based Curriculum when he quoted the idiom and declared it a Bible verse.
Kenyans on social media did not spare him the wrath had this to say.Â
One netizen hilariously tweeted, “Sossion amepanda mbegu ya 310Â “
Another said on Facebook , “Wakenya ni nini na kuinvent Bible verse zetu?”
On Facebook one citizen noted that those seated beside Sossion affirmed his Bible verse and even helped him complete it, wondering if they were just being psychofans.
