President Uhuru Kenyatta visits retired President Daniel Moi Twitter
Retired President Daniel Moi was on Monday evening discharged from Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted for five days.
A communication by his team including his physician Dr. David Silverstein indicated that the 94-year-old former president was treated for “a bout of flu”, blamed on the current chilly weather conditions.
“Dr. Silverstein indicated that doctors had examined and closely observed the former president for the days of his admission,” the statement reads in part.
Besides, his physician noted that the former president was responding well to treatment but needed time to rest.
On Sunday, KANU Secretary-General Nick Salat had exuded confidence noting that Mzee Moi was responding well to treatment.
In March, Moi was admitted to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, Israel, for a medical check-up.
His communication team indicated that the medical checkup was on a stubborn knee injury sustained during an accident and had been causing him some discomfort.
Various leaders have in the past months trooped to Mzee Moi’s Kabarak home to pay him courtesy call.
Notably, Mzee Moi sent for Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who served as his vice president to visit him.
A group of leaders affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto accused Baringo Senator Gideon Moi of being biased in determining who should or should not visit the former Head of State.
