Presidential Music Commission Announces Auditions; How to Participate

  • The Permanent Presidential Music Commission (PPMC) has announced auditions for talented instrumentalists to join their music programme.

    In a statement dated Friday, September 30, the commission targeted talented Kenyans gifted in playing the keyboard, guitars and drums.

    The auditions were scheduled for Saturday, October 1 from 9 am to 4 pm.

    “We have a few remaining instrumentalists’ slots to fill for the upcoming National Youth Talent Development programmes in music and dance,” read the statement in part.

    “The Permanent Presidential Music Commission wishes to invite you to auditions to be held at the PPMC offices along State House Road,” read the statement in part. 

    How to Participate

    Kenyans interested in auditioning were advised to carry a valid National Identity card or their passport to the event.

    The commission stated that only those with the document will be allowed to participate in the Saturday auditions.
     
    Additionally, the auditions have been limited to Kenyans between 18 to 29 years.

    PPMC is a government body that was established in 1988 and is mandated to coordinate dance and music activities in 47 counties.

    It is mandated to develop and preserve music and dance in Kenya.

    “This covers the areas of music education, music research, music in the media, music performances, musicians’ rights and obligations and preservation and conservation of the music and heritage of Kenya, among others.

    “Our mission is to spearhead the growth and development of the music industry and contribute to the understanding and preservation of Kenyan musical arts and expressions,” the commission stated
