West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello, has since informed that police officers are unable to conduct rescue missions with transport being paralysed at the moment.

Residents from the area have raised concerns that over ten people might have been washed away by the floods.

Commissioner Okello also informed that their efforts to contact officers from Chesogon Police Station and the area chief were futile and were unreachable on phone.

Kenya Meteorological Department had on April 14, 2020, warned of heavy rainfall experienced across several parts of the country with a number of counties expected to experience flooding.

The agency advised members of the public to avoid driving through or walking in moving water or open fields and not to shelter under trees or near grilled windows to minimise exposure to lightning strikes.

In November 2019, West Pokot experienced massive landslides owing to the heavy rainfall experienced then, that claimed the lives of numerous people.
