There was drama at Kabale Referral Hospital in Uganda after a Kenyan Covid-19 patient was admitted at the facility on Friday 25.

According to a Ugandan media house, the Kenyan, Daudi Noir Ali, is said to have been intercepted at Cyanika Border town between Uganda and Rwanda.

At the time, Daudi is said to have been transiting back to Kenya with his turnboy, Issiak Abdiwahab, who has since been placed in quarantine.

Some of the patients at the facility expressed fear of contracting the disease, hence, they opted to flee.

A patient by the name Mable Tumuranzye who spoke to the publication stated that she was looking after her ill husband at the hospital.

She stated that she and her husband would be leaving to avoid contracting the virus.

“I’d rather die at home of something else than Covid-19,” she stated.

Another patient by the name Posiano Tindikahwa stated that she had taken his son to the hospital for treatment but decided to visit another facility after hearing of the case.

The hospital’s chairman, Patrick Besigye, however, urged patients at the hospital to be calm and noted that the isolation unit was far from the other wards.

“Am asking the people not to be scared the situation is under control the patient has been put in an isolation ward that is far away from the usual wards,” Besigye stated.

According to the Worldometer’s tally on April 25, the number of coronavirus infections in Africa was 28,351 and the deaths was 1,301.

The virus had affected at least 2,847,238 people by April 25.

Back in Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday announced 7 more Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number at 343.

Further, he informed that four more individuals had recovered from the country bringing the tally to 98.
