  • Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has opened up on his personal relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to the Wicked Edition on NTV on Friday, April 1, Sudi noted that he does not enjoy a cordial relationship with the Head of State since his re-election.

The Kapseret lawmaker detailed that the relationship between him and the President has deteriorated significantly and that he no longer calls him to discuss issues affecting the country and his electorate like they did in the past.

“Uhuru Kenyatta is my very close friend. We used to talk a lot. But the Uhuru I know right now is not the same I used to know,” Sudi explained.

“I’m even shocked that the person I know has changed that much.”

Despite the fallout, Sudi maintained that he cannot fail to honour Uhuru’s summons even after calling him out in public.

The vocal lawmaker insisted that he would still face the President and speak the truth to power even after being summoned.

“We are all equal despite the positions we are holding. It is also right to speak truth to power. If he summons me, I will go and still tell him the exact things I had earlier stated,” Sudi remarked.

Sudi and the Kenyatta family have been at loggerheads for a while now. The lawmaker was recently acquitted in a hate speech case involving Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

Nakuru Principal Magistrate, Isaac Orenge, ruled that Sudi had no case to answer since the state did not provide sufficient evidence.

The Magistrate argued that there was no indication that the words uttered by Sudi in a YouTube clip caused provocation and a breach of peace.

On his relationship with Deputy President William Ruto, Sudi noted that they are very close and that is why he was backing his presidential bid.

The outspoken MP defended Ruto noting that he cannot step aside from Uhuru’s administration owing to the fact that they were both elected.
