Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu has reshuffled four chief officers serving in Nairobi County Government just one month before the August 9 General Election.
The changes took effect on the afternoon of Thursday, July 5, according to a statement from the Nairobi County communications officer Jacob Elkanah.
Joseph Gathiaka, who was the acting Head of County Treasury, takes over as the Finance Chief Officer.
He replaces Mohamed Sahel, who has been moved to the Health docket in the same capacity.
Brian Kisali is now the acting Chief Officer in the Disaster Management docket as Elizabeth Njau takes over as the acting Chief Officer of Trade, Commerce and Industrialization.
In the statement, the Nairobi Governor explained that the changes were aimed at improving service delivery across the county.
“This is a normal reorganization so as to ensure we revamp things and ensure even better service delivery,” Kananu stated.
In an address to the incoming officers, the Governor told the new appointees to work harder than their predecessors.
“Nairobi must feel your presence in a positive manner. We must all understand that our aim is the see each person happy and enjoying good services that are offered by the county,” she noted.
