  • Amani National Congress(ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi on Sunday, September 12, gave an explanation as to why he exited the consecration of Rev. Rose Okeno earlier in the day.

Mudavadi had exited from the event together with Ford Kenya Party leader Wetangula, and it brought up so much uproar on social media.

The party boss, however, clarified that he did not storm out of the event because he was denied a chance to speak, but waited for the consecration ceremony to be over.

“We were there from 9.30 am and waited for the consecration ceremony to be over. We even listened to the ordained bishop’s speech, Rev. Rose Okeno,†the ANC party leader explained.

Speaking at the fundraiser, the ANC party leader explained that after the ordained bishop gave her speech, he decided to leave because he knew he was being expected somewhere else.

Mudavadi proceeded to say that he did not just storm out of the event, but asked Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, who was also in the event, to go ask for permission before they could exit.

“After Rev. Rose gave her speech, I sent Malala to tell Archbishop Ole Sapit that we had an event to attend in Muranga, and that’s quite a long journey from Western,†Mudavadi remarked.

Mudavadi says that it was only after they were permitted to leave by Archbishop Sapit that they left.

He has condemned the reports that he had stormed out of the event because he did not get a chance to speak.

“I’m now seeing reports that I stormed out of the event. I want everyone to know that I respect the church so much, and the leaders in it. I went to the ceremony because I know it is important, and not because I wanted to campaign,†the ANC leader noted.

Among other leaders, NARC party leader Martha Karua was in attendance. She appreciated MP Sabina Chege for the good work she has done and endorsed her for Muranga,s gubernatorial seat.

“Sabina Chege has done a very good job. I know that if you give her a chance, she will be the best leader and work with integrity,†Karua mentioned.
