Matiang’i Offers To Give Ruto Special Licence

  • Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiangi, on Thursday, February 10, offered to give Deputy President William Ruto a special license amid the continued beef between the DP and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking in Chiakariga, Tharaka Nithi County, during the unveiling of the Chiakariga Sub-County administration unit where he was accompanied by Agriculture CS Peter Munya, Matiangi revealed that he would issue the DP with a special license allowing Ruto to be dishonest in his campaigns.

He referred to the country’s second in command as a liar, for claiming that President Kenyatta’s government in which he served as the Second-in-Command, failed to deliver development projects it made to Kenyans.

“There is a trend we are witnessing now where some people are criticizing the government saying it has done nothing. It is simply baffling! We can as well say we are now issuing licenses for telling lies,†Matiang’i noted.

The Interior Boss accused Ruto of attempting to sabotage Uhuru’s legacy projects. He called out the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader for attempting to take credit for some of the projects, terming it hypocritical.

“It’s very dishonest for leaders to take credit for all the many projects President Kenyatta has initiated and at the same time accuse the same government of doing nothing. It cannot be a case of both,†the CS noted.

Echoing Matiangi’s sentiments, Munya urged the DP and politicians allied to him and are still in government to respect the Jubilee Party leader. He opined that the Kenya Kwanza brigade was only bitter.

“We cannot say that we are where we should be, but let’s learn to give credit where it’s due. We all know that those spreading the campaign that the government has done nothing are bitter and selfish people who have overrun themselves and their shortcuts to power have hit an end,” the Agriculture CS remarked.

He further defended Uhuru’s track record, noting that it followed the incremental type of development. Munya explained that the projects initiated under the Uhuru government would benefit the country in the years to come.

The CS compared Kenya to the United States of America (USA), noting that despite  being a first world country, various governments still launch projects, nearly 300 years after independence.

The Interior Boss announced the gazetting of another Sub-County, Muthambi in the same county. He urged residents to take advantage of the new administration units to access government services.

“What these units mean is that residents can now obtain IDs, birth and burial certificates and other important documents easily. When we’re recruiting for police and other agencies, we will now have a recruitment code for Chiakariga for our local sons and daughters,†he noted .

Matiang’i and Munya urged voters to be wary of dishonest politicians cherry-picking on Government development agenda.  They pledged the government’s commitment to ring-fence resources to expand competence-based curriculum (CBC) infrastructure across the country.
