  • On Friday, Interior CS, Fred Matiang’i launched a major government project in his backyard, Kisii County.

    The powerful CS who was recently appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to head Cabinet meetings, took to his Twitter page to announce the project launch aligned with the immigration department.

    “We have launched the Kisii passport centre as we progressively decentralize issuance of new-generation travel documents from Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

    “The station will be a game-changer in delivery of immigration services to the people of Gusiiland and neighbouring counties,” Matiang’i enthusiastically announced.

    Matiang’i had earlier on warned cross-border cattle thieves that more security officers will be deployed to Borabu, in Nyamira county to curb insecurity.

    He warned them during another development launch in Kisii on Friday as he laid the foundation stone for the construction of ultra-modern facilities and outbuildings at Matutu Police Station.

    During the events in Kisii, four other Cabinet Secretaries ministers and politicians from Nyanza pledged their full support for Fred Matiang’i in his endeavours.

    Proffesor George Magoha (Education), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Keriako Tobiko (Environment) and Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) stated that their support for Dr Matiangi was solid.

    Matiang’i has been touted by top several leaders as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s successor in 2022.
