  • Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) announced will close a section of Langata Road for 12 hours to pave way for repair and construction works.

Through a notice dated Friday, September 30, the road will be closed for 12 hours on Saturday, October 1 and for a similar amount of time on Sunday, October 2.

The U-turn just after the Carnivore entrance and the Uhuru Gardens entrance will be closed from 5 am to 5 pm on the said dates as contractors erect a footbridge to promote the safety for pedestrians

The construction is part of the government’s agenda to improve transport in the country.

On August 5, KeNHA officially opened T-Mall Bridge along Langata road, which had been under construction.

Construction of the T-Mall flyover by a Spanish engineering company, Centurion, began in November 2020 to help address traffic flow in and out of Nairobi CBD.

The project was implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Government of Kenya and that of Spain.

T-Mall flyover links Lang’ata and Karen, the Wilson airport, army barracks and Nairobi national park.

The erection of the T-Mall Bridge was meant to allow vehicles headed to Ongata Rongai and Magadi to use the elevated road while those headed to Mbagathi Road, South C and Wilson Airport to use the underpass.

With the completion of the Nairobi Expressway, the project was key to solving urban mobility problems and reducing time spent on the road.

Besides the Nairobi Expressway, the BRT project, on Thika Road, is also in its inception. The project, despite stalling, was touted to help curb traffic snarl-ups in the city.
