Previously, Jamila served at NTV, hosting The Property Show, while her twin sister Wanjiru was a communication and marketing consult at Diamond Media.

Between the years 2006 – 2008, Wanjiru served as a business news anchor at KBC.

On the other hand, Jamila was a host at K24 TV in 2015 before joining Nation Media Group. She hosted Faraja show at the Mediamax-owned station.

The national broadcaster re-launched in June 2021, spending millions to bring back veteran news anchors and revamp its studios.

KBC Editor-in-Chief, Samuel Maina, confirmed that the changes were necessitated by the changing landscape in the media industry.

“The market has been yearning for these anchors. The corporation decided to give them an opportunity to deliver our product to Kenyans. They are also very experienced and will also be training our upcoming anchors to sharpen their anchoring skills.

“(KBC has) invested a lot in software and hardware, a modern television anchoring set, and as such we will fully start broadcasting on High-Definition technology unlike before where we used to combine HD and SD. It’s big-time for us,†he stated.

Some of those who made a come back include Catherine Kasavuli, Pauline Sheghu, Harith Salim, Tom Mboya, Cynthia Nyamai, Fayaz Kureish, and Topi Lyambila among others.
