Speaking during a political rally in Wote, Makueni County, the former Vice President divulged that he agreed with the ANC leader that he would only serve for one term and support Mudavadi in 2027.
In a thinly-veiled attack, Kalonzo stated that he was unaware that Mudavadi had been given a better offer by Deputy President William Ruto.
“I was ready to make Musalia Mudavadi my running mate. I am not sure if he has been offered a better position in Ruto’s camp. Being 68, I promised him that I will only serve for 5 years and hand over power to him in 2027. But he grew impatient,” he stated.
The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) fell apart when Musalia and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula attended ANC National Delegates Conference (NDC) on Sunday, January 23 at the Bomas of Kenya.
During the event, Kalonzo decided to storm out when they heard that the DP and his allies were attending.
On Monday, January 24, Kalonzo, revealed that he was not worried about Ruto’s alliance with Mudavadi.
He noted that Mudavadi’s presence in One Kenya Alliance (OKA) was causing traffic and now that he has left and joined hands with Ruto, the road is clear.
“Mudavadi has not told us if he has left OKA. Ruto said they would go to Nakuru and Rift Valley but the ANC leader has not spoken yet. Anyway, Sunday’s events have made the road clear.
“I think my other friends were causing a traffic jam, now the road to State House is clear. Don’t be worried, the whole world is waiting for us to get in and this time around we are having conversations directly. We are not using brokers,” he stated.
