  • Wiper Democratic Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, has brokered two deals for his key allies as he flexes his muscles in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

Kalonzo has sealed deals which will see former Kibwezi Member of Parliament, Philip Kaloki, deputise businessman Richard Ngatia of Jubilee in the event that the duo cliches the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

He also brokered another deal that has seen Mavoko Member of Parliament, Patrick Makau, shelve his Machakos gubernatorial bid in favour of former Transport Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Wavinya Ndeti.

Kalonzo confirmed the deals on Friday, April 15.

The deal between Ngatia and Kaloki will strengthen the bond between Kalonzo’s Wiper party and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ruling Jubilee.

Kaloki – who had earlier on expressed interest in the Makueni gubernatorial seat – shifted his ambitions to Nairobi and will now campaign alongside city billionaire, Richard Ngatia who is seeking the Jubilee party ticket.

In the case of Wavinya Ndeti, Wiper handed her a direct nomination after reaching a consensus with Makau. The event took place at the Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka (SKM) Command Center in Nairobi’s Karen.

After receiving the certificate, Wavinya appreciated Makau for shelving his ambition to back her.

“For a brother to step down for a sister is not a joke. I want to sincerely thank you Hon Makau for stepping down for me. That shows a love that surpasses any other love,” Wavinya remarked

“This seat is not about Wavinya at all, it is about the party capturing the seat and working for our people.”

Wavinya will now face off with former State House Chief of Staff, Nzioka Waita, of Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) and Deputy Governor Francis Maliti of Maendeleo Chap Chap.

The three candidates are members of parties affiliated to Azimio La Umoja which is headed by both President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader, Raila Odinga.

On the other hand, United Democratic Alliance headed by Deputy President William Ruto will front former senator, Johnson Muthama, for the county seat.
