  • Jubilee, ODM and UDA party campaigns are in full gear in the lead up to various by-elections in the country.

The campaigns are ongoing despite an order by President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 1, extending the ban on such gatherings in containment measures.

In Bonchari constituency, Kisii county, the parties had their teams on the ground to rally support for their respective candidates.

According to the Election regulations, all campaigns should end by midnight, Sunday 16, before the elections that are set to be held on Tuesday, May 18.

Jubilee party mobilised boda boda riders clad in the party colours as they snaked through the constituency in a caravan.

ODM party also took advantage of a church service to convince the residents to vote for their candidate former EPRA boss Pavel Oimeke.

The party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna accompanied by Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri and other local leaders engaged residents at Kerina Central SDA Church for Sabbath prayers to choose them at the ballot.

Earlier on Friday, May 14, the ODM brigade attended a funeral in the area which they used to push their agenda in the upcoming by-election.

Pronouncing victory for their candidate, he told those planning to use state machinery and public money to try and infiltrate the process and have their way that it would not be easy.

The UDA party was equally engaged in campaigns for their candidate for Rurii Ward in Nyandarua County.

Francis Muraya Githaiga explained to the residents why he was best suited for the position.

During the campaigns, DP Ruto made a phone call which excited those gathered. The residents shouted and celebrated as the DP shared greetings in the Kikuyu dialect and went on to address them.
