Mombasa governor Hassan Joho. He’s yet to release a statement on the Likoni Ferry Tragedy. Facebook
On Sunday, September 29, tragedy struck at Likoni channel in Mombasa where a vehicle plunged into the Indian Ocean, killing two people.
Following the tragedy, there was an uproar from residents and Kenyans online over the operations of the ferry.
A section of Kenyans took offence with why Mombasa governor Hassan Joho hadn’t taken up the issue. By Monday he hadn’t released a statement on the tragedy.
On Sunday evening, the county head was having an entertaining evening with Tanzanian hitmaker Ommy Dimpoz.
A video posted on Joho’s Instagram hours after the tragedy showed him and the Bongo hitmaker singing to the hit song Ni Wewe.
“Oh naona miujiza.siamini moyo ndo najiuliza ni mimi? (You performed a miracle on me and left me wondering if I was worthy?
“Walelo waliza kwa dua zao wakasimama na mimi (for those who stood by side through it all)” they sing out.
In the clip, the duo sing together in glee. All the while Kenyans questioned whether the county head was aware of the tragedy that had befallen the county at the Likoni channel.
