  • Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi recorded a statement with the police over his alleged abduction which occured on December 23, 2021.

While in the company of his lawyer, Adrian Kamotho, Itumbi recorded a statement at the Kiambu Police Station on Friday, February 18.

In his address to the media after recording the statement, the strategist’s lawyer revealed that they also submitted a re-enacted video of the incident to the police. Kamotho stated that they expected the police to furnish them with their report after submitting the video.

“We have also given the police with a video record that depicts the happening of that day,” he stated.

Kamotho also asked the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to beef up the security of the digital strategist explaining that Itumbi’s abductors were still at large.

The submission by Itumbi and his lawyer comes days after a video on the re-enactment of the alleged abduction made rounds on social media. The video depicted how the digital strategist was picked up by unknown men after leaving a barber show.

The video was premiered on the Hustler Nation TV  YouTube channel, a day when Itumbi held a thanksgiving service in Kirinyaga County.

On his part, Itumbi claimed that senior police officers were behind his abduction, however, he did not reveal their identities.

Additionally, the digital strategist stated that he had taken enough breaks and would resume his duties on Monday, February 20.

“We are scheduled for some examinations next week then I’m able to know the progress but it feels good. From where I was in December last year to now it feels absolutely good.

“I’m on the path back, I’m back in the office from Monday next week because I feel my body, soul, and spirit is bounced back. I’m fractured but not destroyed,”

In an earlier statement that was released by National Police Service (NPS) spokesperson, Bruno Shioso, on December 24, the police stated that they had launched investigations into the matter and were awaiting a statement from Itumbi.

“Police have since launched an investigation with a view to establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident. We appeal to members of the public to be patient during the investigation and should, therefore, desist from speculation,” read the statement then.
