Arnesen’s High School closed on Sunday, August 15, after a Form One student was found dead on Saturday night, August 14.
The student died in uncertain circumstances, in an incident that caused an uproar among parents at the school.
Parents quickly rushed to the school to pick their children, in frantic efforts that saw the school forced to clear off all the students.
No tests are yet to be done to ascertain what killed the student but the death has caused horror among parents who fear for their children’s safety.
Parents from the school called for mass testing to prevent the possible spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner, Stephen Kihara confirmed the death of the student and revealed that investigations have been launched to find out the cause of death of the student.
Efforts to reach the principal of Arnesen’s High School and respond to the reports were futile.
The unfortunate incident comes days after Form One students joined high school, and the CS for Education, George Magoha, extended the registration period for students.
Elsewhere, another school, Patrick Secondary School in Migori County, was indefinitely closed down, on Thursday, August 12, following protests by students over what they termed as hiked school fees.
