A fire broke out at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) headquarters on the morning of Monday, July 11.
A source from the Harry Thuku-based media house confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that the fire broke out at the institution’s canteen a few minutes before 6:00 a.m.
A video clip seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed how the flames consumed the whole building which is attached to the main block housing its broadcasting studios.
The fire was, however, contained by the police as well as the G4S after an initial delay by the Nairobi county government which reportedly did not have a fire engine on standby.
Sources within KBC confirmed to this writer that all the staff on duty were evacuated and that no one was injured in the early-morning incident.
