Barua said ‘I do’ to his fiancée, Claire Lai, at an event held at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Catholic church Ridgeways, Nairobi.
The event was attended by former presidential aspirant Martha Karua among others.
Barua, who was born on 12 May 1962 in Kirinyaga County, served as Gichugu MP between 2013 and 2017 and was replaced by lawyer Githinji Gichimu.
According to his Twitter account, the former lawmaker was married to Cherono Wamaitha and they were blessed by a baby girl in 2016.
He, however, made headlines in 2017 when he bought space on a local newspaper to thank members of his constituency after he was voted out in the Jubilee primaries.
Barua lost to lawyer Gichimu and took time to convey his appreciation via a newspaper advert on the Daily Nation.
He urged his constituents to remain united and forget about the concluded nominations, instead channel their efforts towards a progressive constituency.
“I Hon (Dr) Njogu Barua PhD, MP sincerely thank Gichugu constituents for the opportunity to represent you in the Kenya National Assembly. For this, I will forever remain grateful.
“I also urge you to consider the just concluded campaigns as a closed chapter, remain united and work towards building a progressive constituency, county and nation,” the statement read.
